The action has begun at the Dale Farm Milk Cup at Coleraine, the UK and Ireland’s most prestigious youth tournament.

The international youth tournament, now in its 33rd year, was declared open yesterday by former Celtic and Chelsea striker, Chris Sutton.

Local sides have had mixed fortunes in their debut matches in the competition. In the junior section, Co Antrim fell 3-0 to Dublin, and Co Fermanagh were hammered 6-1 by AS Roma-USA.

There was better news, however, for Co Derry’s junior side which held on for a 3-2 victory against California’s OC Blues. Co Down also had a comprehensive debut win in the competition, winning 4-0 against Brentford.

The action is currently ongoing, and Mark Lucas has just fired Co Armagh into a 2-1 lead over Swindon Town.

Meanwhile, in the premier section the clash between Co Tyrone and Right To Dream remains scoreless at the interval and Co Derry’s match against Lusaka Academy has been postponed until 7pm.

Co Fermanagh will take on Partick Thistle at 5pm, and Co Armagh face off against Real Sociedad at 7pm.
