1993: Liverpool team-mates Bruce Grobbelaar and Steve McManaman were involved in a bust-up during the Merseyside derby defeat at Everton.
1998: Grobbelaar and Hans Segers were charged by the Football Association with breaching betting regulations. They were later cleared.
2001: Uefa ruled Rangers' Uefa Cup tie against Anzhi Makhachkala would be played as a single match at a neutral venue after military activity in Dagestan and Chechnya.
2006: Bryan Robson left his post as West Brom manager by mutual consent.
2007: Chelsea drew 1-1 with Rosenborg in a Champions League group game at Stamford Bridge in what would prove to be Jose Mourinho's last match in his first stint as Blues manager.
2012: Kevin Pietersen was controversially left out of the England squad to tour India following his 'reconciliation period' with the England and Wales Cricket Board. The following month, Pietersen was included after his "reintegration" process and played a starring role in a famous Test series victory.
2017: British rider Mark Beaumont completed his round-the-world cycle challenge in a record 79 days - beating the previous mark by 44 days.
