THEY might not exactly be hangover-free, but here’s a few organic tipples worth stocking up on for autumn or for anyone looking to try something new with an organic wine this season...

Merinas Old Vines Tempranillo 2017, £8, M&S:

There are lots of easy-drinking flavours bursting out of this dry but fruity red – liquorice, red cherries and blackcurrant on the nose, then you sink in to a bath of summer berries. Great with a meaty stew or some chewy chorizo.

VDV Organic Verdejo 2017, currently reduced to £7 from £8 until October 9, Co-op:

A crisp, aromatic wine, showing great purity of aromas and a precise expression of the Verdejo variety. Because it’s cultivated at 700m altitude, this wine is distinctively fresh for an inland Spanish white. It’s light with flavours of peach, apple and banana. Juicy, clean and dry, with punchy citrus flavours, with balance and a persistent finish. It pairs perfectly with fish – but is just as good on its own.

WINE OF THE WEEK

Phantom River Sauvignon Blanc, £5, Sainsbury’s. Buy any six and save 25 per cent until October 2.

Chile has near perfect conditions for producing wine – this sample has enticing aromas of citrus followed by crisp, concentrated flavours of tropical fruits with hints of lime, leaving a long, lingering finish. This juicy, intense Sauvignon Blanc is perfect with smoked salmon, lobster dishes or even Caesar salad.
