POLICE are investigating an assault in Larne in which a man and woman were injured in an attack by a group ahead of a soccer match.

The assault was reported to have happened in the Dunluce area of the town at around 7.35pm on November 3, before a match between Larne FC and Cliftonville.

The man was attacked with bottles and kicked in the head several times, suffering "serious" injuries, a PSNI spokesperson said.

The woman was also injured in the attack, the spokesperson said, adding: "Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the attack or anyone with CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or other footage that could assist with enquiries, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 1501 of 03/11/23."
