Organisers of Derry’s 'Tour de Foyle' fundraiser have called on cyclists to join a tour of Lough Foyle, which comes complete with a ferry trip across the mouth of the sea-lough.
Now in its seventh year, the tour involves a cycle around the banks of the Foyle, crossing over from Magilligan to Greencastle. All money raised goes to the North West Methodist Mission which has been providing homeless services in Derry for more than 80 years.
With a number of hostels in Derry, the Methodist Mission provides temporary accommodation, training and reskilling, advocacy and tenancy support as well as resettlement services for the homeless.
Last year, the Mission dealt with more than 1,000 referrals and provided temporary accommodation and support for more than 120 people.

The hugely popular tour draws cyclists of all levels, from newcomers to veterans and takes participants around one of the most scenic trips in Ireland, according to a spokesman for the organisers.
The spokesman said: “The event is all about taking part. It is a fun event and not a race. It is open to everyone, from the novice to club cyclists; it is simply to bring people together from across our city and beyond.
“By taking part in the event you will be helping people in your own community who are experiencing homelessness and supporting North West Methodist Mission help them put their lives back on track.”
The event, on Saturday August 26, starts at Ebrington, travelling to Magilligan. Following a short “pit stop”, cyclists are taken across the mouth of the Foyle by ferry to Greencastle before returning through Inishowen to Derry and across the Peace Bridge back to Ebrington.
