Three people charged with assault over Newry incident involving golf clubs

THREE men are due to appear in court after being charged in connection with an altercation in Newry.

The incident happened in the Dominic Street area of the town on Saturday afternoon, and is understood to have involved golf clubs being used.

Two men, aged 19 and 22, and a 25-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the incident, and were charged on Sunday.

The 22-year-old male has been charged with offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified.

The 19 year-old man and 25-year-old woman have both been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The trio are due to appear before Newry Magistrates Court on August 11.
