Police not treating Portrush cliff fall death as suspicious

The death of a man after a cliff fall in Portrush is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the cliffs at Ramore Head after 7pm on Monday night.

Coleraine and Ballycastle Coastguard Rope Rescue Teams had attended the scene, stating: “A casualty was recovered but sadly declared deceased at the scene.”

It is reported the PSNI are not treating the man’s death as suspicious.

Commenting on social media, DUP MP Carla Lockhart said: “Such sad news – our thoughts are very much with all those caught up in this tragic incident.

“The beginning of the summer holidays and a family plunged into grief. Many thanks to our emergency services who are always to the fore in times of need.”

Alliance councillor Lee Kane also shared his condolences for those involved.
