POLICE are not treating the death of a man at Cavehill Country Park in north Belfast as suspicious.

It comes after a search operation was launched at the popular visitor spot on Thursday night.

A PSNI spokesperson said at the time that officers attended after receiving a report of "concern for the safety of an individual in the vicinity of Cavehill Country Park".

Police, ambulance, fire service and search and rescue teams were involved in the operation and a UK Coastguard helicopter was seen arriving in the area, landing at Belfast Zoo.

In an update from police on Friday morning, a spokesperson added: "Officers attended along with our colleagues from other emergency services.

"Sadly the man died at the scene.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious."
