Gardaí in Co Donegal have said they are "investigating all circumstances" after a man's body was recovered from a river in the west of the county.

The body was recovered from the Crolly River following a call to emergency services shortly after 7.15am on Sunday.

Members of Bunbeg Coast Guard arrived at the scene and recovered the body of the man, who is understood to have been in his 40s and a visitor to Co Donegal. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Gardaí have confirmed.

A spokesperson for the force said the body was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital ahead of a post-mortem.
