POLICE have appealed for information following the death of a pedestrian in a crash in Co Antrim.

Michael McCormick died following the collision on the Atlantic Road in Portrush during the early hours of Saturday.

The 58-year-old was from the Coleraine area.

A PSNI spokesman said a woman in her 30s was arrested but has since been released on police bail to allow for further police enquiries.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, around 2.15am on Saturday morning, or who may have any dash cam footage from the Atlantic Road before or after the time of the collision, or any information which can assist us, to contact 101."

Tributes posted on social media have described Mr McCormick as "a lovely man".

One message said "RIP Mickey a great friend", while another added that he was "a gentleman".

Another tribute said Mr McCormick was "always smiling and stopping to have a chat".
