LINE Of Duty star Adrian Dunbar has been named as an ambassador for a GAA club in his home town as it prepares to unveil significant redevelopment plans.

The 63-year-old actor, who plays Superintendent Ted Hastings in the hit BBC police drama, will attend an event this month at the Enniskillen Gaels club where plans to develop both the club and its grounds will be revealed.

Along with being home to Enniskillen Gaels, the 18,000-seat stadium - named after late Fermanagh county footballer Mickey Brewster - is also the Fermanagh county home grounds, and plans are underway to improve facilities "to cater for the needs of a modern club who sit at the heart of their community".

The ground, which opened in 1982, was renovated in 2007 and the new development plans are understood to feature blueprints for a second pitch at the site, along with a new "community hub" facility.

Full details of the revamp will be unveiled at a launch event in Enniskillen's Westville Hotel on May 13.

The event will be attended by Adrian Dunbar, who will also be speaking to club members to show his support for the Brewster Park plan.

Dunbar, who is from Enniskillen, has backed the development, and will join members at an event to launch plans at an event in the town's Westville Hotel on May 13.

"I’m looking forward to being back in Enniskillen and meeting up with the Gaels. There is a great energy about the club, as there should be from the county town," he said.

The club's development secretary Mark Morris told The Irish News: "Along with being the home of Enniskillen Gaels, Brewster Park is also the home of the GAA in Fermanagh, and we are excited to be at the stage where we can unveil the full details this month.

He added: "These are exciting times for our club with our new development plans and we feel that Adrian, as a true Enniskillen Gael at heart, his sense of community in local issues and the pride he has in his home town will represent everything we are aiming to achieve with our club development plans."
