AN 82-year-old man has died following a road crash in Co Derry.

The three-vehicle collision occurred in the Moneymore area shortly before 8.20pm on Tuesday.

The crash on the Desertmartin Road involved a New Holland tractor, a Volkswagen Jetta and a Volkswagen Tiguan. A man in his 30s was also taken to hospital for treatment to injuries

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed the 82-year-old man had died as a result of his injuries, and appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact police.

The deceased was named locally last night as Tommy McLoughlin from the Drummullan area.

SDLP Mid Ulster councillor Christine McFlynn said: "Tommy was well-loved in the area and this has come as a complete shock to everyone here. I know the community will rally round his loved ones in the difficult times ahead."
