THE Belfast trust last night called for all available nursing staff to help out due to facing "extreme pressure".

A trust spokesperson issued the appeal last night on social media, stating: "We are under extreme pressure as we care for an increasing number of sick patients."

They called for all available nursing staff, both registered and unregistered, to contact the trust if they are free to work "n the coming days".

The call came as the Western trust warned that the accident and emergency department at the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen was "very busy".

A spokesperson said there were over 50 people waiting to be seen in the emergency department, and 15 people waiting to be admitted to the hospital itself.

"Please only come to ED if you have a medical or mental health emergency," they said.
