There was one further death from Covid-19 in Northern Ireland bringing the overall death total to 2,100.

There were also 164 new cases reported.

The new figures mean that since the beginning of the pandemic last March, a total of 1,749,147 tests for coronavirus have been carried out on 853, 882 individuals.

Overall, there have been 115,181 positive cases reported.

Of the new cases, the most, 30 were in the Belfast area followed by 17 in both the Antrim and Newtownabbey and Mid Ulster areas and 15 in the Causeway Coast and Glens area.

Currently, there are 176 Covid-19 positive people in 26 hospitals around Northern Ireland.

Of these, 18 patients are in intensive care and 14 are ventilated.

Hospitals are operating at a 96 per cent capacity though the Royal Victoria Hospital, South West Acute Hospital and Ulster Hospital are operating at over capacity.

There are also 109 people awaiting admission.

Of the 2,100 people who have so far died, the vast majority, 1,281 have been aged 80 and over and 52 per cent of fatalities have been men.

The majority of deaths, 1,641, have been in a hospital setting.

Meanwhile, in the Republic, 18 further Covid-19 related deaths were recorded bringing the total number to 4,552.

There were also 349 new cases.

There are currently 355 coronavirus patients in hospital, of which 88 are in intensive care.
