THE ODDS on a border poll before the end of the decade have shortened.

BoyleSports said the odds on a referendum being called before the end of the decade are now 4/7, in from 2/1 at the start of the year.

The odds on a border poll in the next two years have also shortened into 3/1 having previously been rated a remote 10/1 shot.

However, the bookies believe the prospects of a successful referendum for nationalism remain relatively long with the odds on a vote for unity at 9/2 compared to the status quo at 1/8.
