A SECURITY alert near Belfast International Airport in Co Antrim yesterday ended with nothing untoward being found.

The alert on Airport Road near Aldergrove was sparked after police received a report of a suspicious package, which was discovered outside a shop.

People travelling to the airport were warned to leave extra time for their journey as army bomb disposal attended the scene and examined the object.

Police later said nothing untoward had been found and the road was re-opened.
