The British army bomb squad carried out a controlled explosion after the discovery of a suspicious package at the PSNIs headquarters in east Belfast yesterday.

The package, which was discovered around 5.35pm, was later declared “nothing untoward” and was taken away for forensic examination.

A number of roads closed during the operation were later re-opened.
