A MAN suffered stab wounds during an attack in Belfast city centre yesterday.

Police were called to the Donegall Place area at around 3pm following a report of an assault.

The attack is understood to have taken place at the KFC restaurant.

A PSNI spokesman said: It is believed that a number of people were involved in an altercation in the area.

"One man received laceration injuries but declined medical assistance.

"Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."
