MURDER victim Pat McCormick has been buried in Co Down.

The body of the 55-year-old father-of-four was found in a lake in Ballygowan last week - six weeks after he went missing.

He had last been seen in Comber on May 30 after leaving his parents' home in Ballynahinch.

Mr McCormick's funeral took place at Strean Presbyterian Church in Newtownards. He had worked as a caretaker at the church for ten years and was a former soldier with the UDR and Royal Irish Regiment.

Mourners held a guard of honour as his coffin was carried out of the church.

Mr McCormick’s 14-year-old daughter Morgan told the congregation he was a “wonderful, fun-loving dad” who will be badly missed.

A 26-year-old man has appeared in court charged with Mr McCormick's murder - a charge he denies.

The man's 21-year-old fiancée has denied charges of aiding and abetting and perverting the course of justice.

The pair will appear in court again next month.
