GUNS n' Roses guitarist Slash rocked Belfast as the opening night headline act for this year's Belsonic music festival.

The popular musician performed with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators to a crowd of excited fans in Ormeau Park in the south of the city.

Music fans were also kept entertained earlier in the evening by supporting acts Blackberry Smoke, Not Hot Ashes and Screaming Eagles.

Now in its twelfth year and its third in Ormeau Park, Belsonic returns for a nine-night run throughout the month of June with a varied line-up of music acts.

The second night of the festival, being held tomorrow, features DJ and producer duo Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, and support acts Disciples and Hugel.

Singer-songwriter George Ezra, rapper Stormzy and rock band The Killers are also among the international headline acts for other nights of the festival, while Take Me to Church singer Hozier leads the line-up for the penultimate show.

The festival finishes on June 28 with a closing night performance by Dutch DJ Tiesto.

Gates at Ormeau Park open for the gigs from 6pm with curfew usually around 11pm.

Road users have been advised to anticipate some traffic disruption in south and east Belfast as the concerts take place, and to plan for potential delays.

Concert goers have also been encouraged to use public transport, and if being collected by car or taxi after the event, to agree collection points well away from the venue.

Translink is also operating special shuttle buses and rail services.
