POLICE have appealed for information after a man was assaulted in Co Antrim.

The victim was found in the Point Street area of Larne on Wednesday at around 10.35pm. Police believe he had been attacked a short time earlier close to an underpass.

A PSNI spokesman said: "The male was taken to hospital for a number injuries, including suspected fractures to his eye sockets and cheekbones and a laceration to his face.

"His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to contact detectives."
