THE fourth stained glass window celebrating hit TV series Game of Thrones was unveiled at the SSE Arena in Belfast yesterday.

This week’s window – or ‘Glass of Thrones’ - takes as its theme House Targaryen, with vivid depictions of Daenerys’ dramatic re-emergence from the funeral pyre to Drogon’s fiery onslaught of the gold convoy.

The project, being undertaken by Tourism Ireland in partnership with HBO, coincides with the eighth and final series of the show in which noble families on the fictional continent of Westeros battle for control of the throne.

In all, six windows are being unveiled in Belfast each week, forming a new 1.8 mile Game of Thrones trail, and celebrating the impact the show has had on the city and on Northern Ireland.

Each Glass of Thrones highlights a key house from the show and represents the fans’ favourite, most shared and most discussed moments.

The first window is located opposite the entrance to Belfast City Hall, the second is at the Waterfront Hall and the third is at Lagan Weir.

With 70 per cent of the production of Game of Thrones taking place in Northern Ireland, Tourism Ireland is promoting the north, and its connection to the fantasy drama, to markets in Great Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Scandinavia.

The new campaign will build on the success of previous Game of Thrones award-winning promotions, including its 2016 ‘Doors of Thrones’ campaign and 2017 Game of Thrones Tapestry, which collectively reached an estimated 141 million people around the world.
