POLICE are probing a link between an attack on two 15-year-old boys and a food delivery cyclist in north Belfast.

The teenagers were approached by two older teenagers at a skate park on Little Patrick Street on Sunday April 21 at around 11.30am.

The older boys demanded the younger teens empty their pockets and began to attack them with a large stone and a glass bottle.

It is believed one of the attackers had a knife, which he used to threaten the boys.

The assailants fled on foot with a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims.

Around an hour later, police received a report a food delivery cyclist had been assaulted in Victoria Parade in the New Lodge area.

The man was set upon by two unknown males and punched a number of times in the face and head at around 12.35pm.

It is believed his assailants tried to steal items from his bike, but were unsuccessful. The victim suffered a broken jaw.

A PSNI spokesman said: "The descriptions of the suspects in both incidents are similar and we believe they may be linked.

"One suspect is described as a black male, around 17 or 18 years old, wearing a pink t-shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms.

"The other is described as a white male with a shaved head, also aged around 17 or 18 years old wearing a grey and black top and black tracksuit bottoms.

"I am appealing to anyone with information or who may be able to help us identify the males involved to please get in touch."

Meanwhile, police are also investigating a burglary at a house in the Doagh Road area of Ballyclare.

A PSNI spokesman said "it is believed that the burglary took place between 2pm and 6pm on Friday".

"The occupant returned home to find that jewellery and a sum of money had been taken."

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone offered items of jewellery for sale in unusual circumstances to contact them.
