Ryanair ask passengers to pass on details of mass flight cancellations to fellow travellers, as it continues to dodge media questions

RYANAIR have been asking passengers to pass on details of its raft of flight cancellations to fellow travellers, as the airline continues to dodge media questions.

Despite hundreds of flights between Belfast and London Stansted being dropped from the schedule, no public confirmation has been issued by either Ryanair or the Belfast International Airport.

It had run four flights a day on the route, although indicated last month this would fall to just two per week during the `winter schedule'.

However, the change will now be effective from June, the Irish News reported yesterday.

In some instances passengers have only been finding out their flights are cancelled when they are unable to book other weekday flights and query their original itinerary, only to be told it no longer exists.

Others had no idea that they were no longer able to make the pre-booked and paid-for journeys.

In a message issued to some affected customers yesterday the airline said it "regrets that following an operational review, the frequency of flights between London Stansted and Belfast has been reduced and as a result your flight(s) have been cancelled. Please advise any other passengers who may be travelling in your party".

It offered a refund or rebooking a different Ryanair flight. It added that customers notified more than 14 days before the scheduled departure date are not entitled to compensation for the disruption.

One flight a day will now travel between the two airports on Fridays and Sundays from June.
