Dozens of young people wore GAA jerseys during the funeral of tragic Tyrone teenager Morgan Barnard.

The county colours of Ireland were on display inside St Patrick’s Church in Dungannon for his Requiem Mass yesterday.

Hardy teens defied the cold and rain to turn out in a selection of tops after the Barnard family asked mourners to wear GAA and other football jerseys.

Some mourners wore a selection of drill tops in tribute to their friend.

Those attending were also asked to wear the uniform of St Patrick’s Academy, which Morgan attended, or bright shirts - prompting one man to turn up in a Hawaiian shirt and a pair of shorts.

Morgan was known for his unique style, something referred to by chief concelebrant Fr Aidan McCann.

“Morgan had a strong personality and didn't care too much about the opinion of others revealed in his various hair styles or indeed lack of hair, hair colours and his flamboyant choice of shirts,” he said.
