Armed cyclist tries to rob woman in south Belfast

A CYCLIST armed with a gun has tried to rob a woman in south Belfast.

The incident happened on Wellesley Avenue last night.

Detective Sergeant Parker said “Shortly before 9:10pm it was reported that a male on a bicycle approached a woman producing a handgun and demanding money from her.

"The woman was able to make off and shortly after police arrested a 21-year-old male on suspicion of armed robbery. He is currently in custody.

Police have appealed for information.
