A special 'Day of Reflection' took place around Northern Ireland yesterday to acknowledge the hurt and pain caused by the Troubles.

The aim of the annual initiative, which yesterday was marked with events at WAVE centres in Armagh, Omagh, Ballymoney, Derry and Belfast, was to provide people with an opportunity to remember the past in a "non-confrontational, dignified and respectful manner".

At the WAVE Trauma Centre in Chichester Park South, north Belfast, people gathered to remember those who were killed or injured in the conflict.

Stephen Travers, a survivor of the Miami Showband massacre in 1975, was guest speaker.

A minute's silence was held in memory of all those affected by the Troubles, the recent attack in Manchester and others killed in conflicts around the world, or through acts of terror.
