POLICE probing the murder of ex-UDA boss John Boreland have questioned three young women.

Two women aged 29 and 30 were interviewed by police in Belfast

A third woman aged 24 was questioned in Carlisle in the north of England.

Detectives are to submit files to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) following Tuesday's interviews.

Boreland (46) was gunned down as he walked to his flat in Sunningdale Gardens in north Belfast on August 7.

The former UDA 'brigadier' was a close associate of high-profile loyalist Andre Shoukri.

Three men aged 29, 33 and 61 have already been charged with perverting the course of justice in connection with the killing and have appeared before Belfast Magistrate's Court.

The three, who remain in custody, are accused of destroying a silver Renault Megane sought by police in connection with the murder on a date between August 6 and 11.

A fourth man has been reported to the PPS.
