A MAN has suffered "horrendous injuries" during a "frenzied attack" in Co Armagh, police have said.

The man was walking along a path between Taghnevan and the Tullygally East Road in Craigavon shortly before midnight on Sunday when he was assaulted.

Police believe he was kicked, punched and stabbed.

It is thought two men may have been involved in the apparently unprovoked attack.

"If it were not for the victim's quick actions to stem the blood flow and, as usual, brilliant work from our NIAS (Ambulance Service) colleagues, this could have been much worse," a PSNI spokesman said.

"This was a frenzied attack on a man who was simply out for a walk, and we want to do all we can to find the people behind the attack."

Pictures of the man's injures were posted on the PSNI Craigavon Facebook page.

Police said the images "doesn't do justice to the horrendous injuries he has received as a result of what we believe were kicks, punches, and stab wounds".
