SHOTS have been fired at two houses in Co Armagh.

Properties in Woodville Street and Victoria Street in Lurgan were targeted at about 11.15pm on Tuesday.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Chief Inspector Jon Burrows said: "The Victoria Street area remains closed at this time while inquiries continue.

"I would appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have noticed any suspicious activity to contact police at Lurgan on 101 quoting reference 1459 04/10/16."

DUP MLA Carla Lockhart said it was fortunate no-one was hurt.

She said: "The areas in which these shots were fired are built up. A large number of families live here and this could very well have resulted in loss of life. For individuals to open fire on households in this way is utterly wrong.

"I condemn this unreservedly and call on the PSNI to ensure a speedy proactive investigation. These individuals needs taken off our streets and to feel the full rigours of the judicial system."
