Man arrested over murder of Limavady teenager released on bail as five remain in custody

A 29-year-old man has been released on bail following arrest by police investigating the murder of teenager Blake Newland in Co Derry.

The man was one of six people arrested by police investigating the stabbing incident in Limavady on Friday night.

Blake Newland, who was 17, was being stabbed multiple times in the Woodland Walk area of the town.

He was one of three people taken to hospital after police responded to a report at around at around 9.35pm that a man in his 50s had been stabbed.

The teenager later died in hospital.

On Sunday, police were granted more time to question four of those arrested.



A PSNI spokesperson said on Monday that the 29-year-old man “has been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.”

They added: “A total of five males remain in police custody at this time.”
