Children and woman ‘extremely distressed’ after being forced into bedroom during south Belfast burglary

Break-in happened on Saturday night in the Castlereagh area of the city

A woman and four young children have been left “extremely distressed” after being confronted with four masked men during a burglary in south Belfast.

The men, one of whom was armed with a screwdriver, forced the occupants of a house in Greenwood Hill in the Castlereagh area into an upstairs bedroom after entering the property at around 10.45pm on Saturday.

The house was ransacked before the men made off with a quantity of jewelry and a tablet device.

”Understandably, the family were left extremely distressed by this incident,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 2044 of 06/04/24.



“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who noticed a white Volkswagen Golf in the area, and would ask locals to check their CCTV and doorbell footage.”
