WALKING and cycling charity Sustrans has launched a programme of activities aimed at families homeschooling during Covid-19.

Sustrans Outside In is a weekly newsletter to be sent to parents over the course of four weeks, outlining different activities their children can enjoy at home.

The content has been developed by Sustrans' school officers who are experienced at developing fun and educational resources suitable for the school setting.

The programme includes games, challenges and videos. It has indoor and outdoor activities suitable for a range of ages.

The activities are created around five themes: wellbeing, keeping active, creativity, investigating, and ‘anything goes’.

"Through the Active School Travel Programme, which is funded by the Public Health Agency and the Department for Infrastructure, we have been supporting schools and families with weekly resources. This pack offers additional activities to keep children entertained and active during these unusual times," said Beth Harding, Active School Travel Manager at Sustrans.

"Walking, cycling and scooting are great ways to contribute to keeping us active and healthy in body and mind. During this time where we are mostly required to stay at home, these activities become harder to do so. Sustrans Outside In therefore aims to provide ideas and inspiration to bring health and wellbeing activities into the home.

"We're hopeful that this newsletter will be welcomed by schools and families as an information point for fun and educational extra curricula activities."
