POLICE investigating a south Belfast fertility clinic have arrested three women following questioning over fraud-related offences.

The trio, aged 32, 33 and 47, were arrested and interviewed at the weekend by PSNI detectives carrying out an ongoing investigation into the clinic in the Lisburn Road area of the city.

They were bailed to allow for further investigation after assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Wilson from the PSNI's Economic Crime Unit said: "The interviews and arrests were conducted in relation to conspiracy to defraud offences.

"The investigation remains ongoing, at this time."
