A CO Donegal man has been charged with causing the death of his brother by dangerous driving.

Francis McCafferty (44) of Belault in Pettigo, who handed himself into gardaí the day after the crash four years ago, appeared at Omagh Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Mr McCafferty was arrested in Strabane last week.

He is accused of killing Pat John McCafferty on the Tullychurry Road near Belleek in Co Fermanagh on January 5, 2014.

Mr Cafferty was not charged by the gardaí at the time of the in incident. He is said to have admitted to being the driver of the vehicle and that it was an accident.

Several hours after the crash, gardaí located a Ford Focus believed to be involved in the incident close to Mr McCafferty's Pettigo home.

At Saturday's hearing, his solicitor told the court the statement taken by An Garda Síochana "lacked key details".

The judge said he was satisfied that there was enough evidence to connect Mr McCafferty with the alleged offence.

Despite PSNI objections to bail on the grounds he may abscond, the judge granted bail on conditions of Mr McCafferty to surrendering the title deeds to his farm.

Mr McCafferty has been remanded in custody until bail conditions are met.

The case was adjourned until April 9.
