Police treating attack in Derry's Bogside as sectarian hate crime

POLICE are treating an attack on a woman in Derry as a sectarian hate crime.

The 19-year-old victim was taken to hospital with cuts to her head after she was attacked at Lecky Road in the Bogside on Saturday night.

Two women, aged 19 and 21, have been arrested in connection with the assault.

Independent councillor Sean Carr condemned the attack and said people in the area where trying to build bridges.

Police have appealed to anyone with information.
