WORKERS are to strike at Sean Graham bookmaker outlets across the north during the busiest two days of the Cheltenham Festival this week.

Strikes are to take place tomorrow and Friday after workers rejected a pay offer from the company.

Davy McMurray from trade union Unite said 88 per cent of workers who voted opted to reject the pay offer.

"The management offer would have left workers earning only nine pence per hour more than the lowest wage legally payable after April of this year," he said.

He said workers wanted to be paid a living wage.

"Even at this late stage it is not too late for management to avert strike action, we call on SP Graham Ltd to commit to becoming a fully-accredited Living Wage employer," he said.
