SIR Elton John revealed he has patched things up with his mother Sheila.

The pair had been very close but fell out eight years ago amid claims Sir Elton demanded his mother cut two long-standing friends out of her life.

But Sir Elton told the Sunday Mirror they had put their argument behind them.

He said: "Out of respect for my mother's privacy, I have always shied away from speaking publicly about our relationship.

"However, I can say that we are now back in touch and have been so since my mother's 90th birthday."

Pictures emerged last year of the singer's mother celebrating her 90th birthday with an Elton John tribute act.

Shortly afterwards she told the Daily Mail that they had fallen out after Sir Elton called her to demand she cut off all contact with two of their oldest friends – Bob Halley and John Reid.

Mr Halley had worked for the singer for more than 30 years, while Mr Reid had been his manager, guiding him to become one of the biggest music stars in the world.

She refused to cut them out, prompting a fallout that lasted for much of her 80s.

However, there have been hints the pair have been patching things up after Sir Elton reportedly paid £30,000 for his mother to have a double hip replacement.
