Graeme McDowell has launched his own beer - but fans in Ireland are unable to sample the golf-themed drink.

'G-Mac's Celtic Style Pale Ale' is already par for the course in bars in McDowell's adopted home of Florida, but has not yet found its way to Portrush.

McDowell teamed up with fellow golf professionals Freddie Jacobson and Keegan Bradley to form the Golf Beer Brewing Company and created beers to match each player's taste.

G-Mac's is described as being a "crisp, refreshing pale ale with a floral hop aroma and a snappy finish".

He said: "We wanted to create craft beers for the 19th hole, approachable craft beers, something the golfer can enjoy and maybe associate those with a golfer like Freddie Jacobson, like Keegan Bradley and myself.

"For me as a golfer and a restaurant owner, GolfBeer is the perfect marriage, bringing together two of my favourite things."

At McDowell's Rathmore club in Portrush, where his dad Kenny is president, they do not sell G-Mac beer.

A spokesman said: "The bar manager said you can only get that in the States. He had been talking to Kenny about if there was any chance of getting it over here as some people would love to try it and he said unfortunately not."

A Royal Portrush Golf Club barman also said they do not stock the beer, adding: "It is the first I have heard of it".
