Theft accused arrest warrant

A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a man accused of stealing an Ulster flag from near a loyalist protest camp in north Belfast.

Paul Anthony Donnelly was due to appear before the Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday charged with carrying out the theft at the start of this month.

The 41-year-old, of Cranbrook Gardens in Belfast, is alleged to have taken a flag valued at £10. But when he failed to show the judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

At the time of the alleged incident on March 1 police said they had received a report of an Ulster flag being removed from fencing at Twaddell Avenue by men wearing hoodies.

A passing patrol responded and a 41-year-old man was arrested.

A camp set up in protest at restrictions imposed on an Orange Order parade has been operating in the area since the summer of 2013
