Gaddafi son murder charge

A SON of Libya's late dictator Muammar Gaddafi and his spy chief have been charged with murder in relation to Libya's 2011 civil war. Libya's prosecutor general Abdel-Qader Radwan said the trial will start on September 19 in the capital Tripoli on alleged crimes committed during Gaddafi's 42-year rule and during the eight-month civil war that deposed him. The defendants are former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senoussi and Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the only son of the former dictator who is in custody.

A militia is holding Saif al-Islam in the Libyan town of Zintan. International Criminal Court judges had ruled that Libya cannot give Saif al-Islam a fair trial and asked authorities to hand him over to The Hague.
