Riverdance record bid

AN attempt will be made in Derry tomorrow to smash the record for the longest Riverdance.

Children in Crossfire Charity director Richard Moore, left, hopes to break the Irish dancing record of 1,700 set in Dublin some months ago.

He is calling on the public to join the world record bid at Derry's Ebrington Square tomorrow. "It's already looking very good and we're registering more and more people every day. We're already fairly close to the record set by Dublin but we want to get to 2013 to smash the record," he said.

The Derry man urged as many people as possible to register for the record attempt today at Children in Crossfire or to turn up at Ebrington at 10am tomorrow. "We were giving out black tee-shirts but we're running a bit low on them so if people could come along dressed in black. We'll have to dance for six minutes to break the record. "As well as breaking the record we'll also show that fundraising for charity can be fun," Mr Moore said. n Full details of the record attempt are available at www.childrenincrossfire.org.
