Host of stars announced for second Disney Family Singalong

Shakira, Lion King star Donald Glover and Frozen’s Idina Menzel have been announced as taking part in the second Disney Family Singalong.

The entertainment giant is bringing together a host of stars to perform some of its best known songs for a broadcast raising money for the coronavirus relief effort.

During the first show last month, Beyonce made a surprise appearance while Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato also performed.

For the next broadcast, acts announced so far include Shakira, who will be singing her hit Try Everything from 2016 animated blockbuster Zootopia.

Menzel will team up with Broadway star Ben Platt for a duet of A Whole New World from Aladdin while Glover is set to reunite with  his Lion King remake co-stars Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner for a performance of Hakuna Matata.

Other highlights from the May 10 show include Halsey singing Part Of Your World from The Little Mermaid and Rebel Wilson covering Poor Unfortunate Souls from the same film.

And following news that Disney is working on a live-action remake of 1997 animated classic Hercules, Keke Palmer will take on Zero To Hero.

Additional celebrities and performance details will be announced soon, Disney said.

The Disney Family Singalong: Volume II, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, will air in the US on May 10 and will be available to stream on Disney+ “in the days that follow,” the company said.

Money raised will go to food bank charity Feeding America and its work feeding families amid the coronavirus pandemic.
