Rihanna has teamed up with N.E.R.D for their comeback single on which she delivers a surprise rap.

Lemon – the first music from the funk rock outfit for seven years – has been labelled a hit by fans but it’s Rihanna’s appearance which has really captured imaginations.

Despite toying with rap in the past, the Barbadian songstress makes the full switch on the single as she exclaims “This beat tastes like lunch.”

She also takes on the media, rapping “Tell the paparazzi get the lens right” and gives a shout out to basketball player LeBron James.

Rihanna’s feature has been lauded by fans on social media with one labelling her the “queen of rap”.

Greg Wyshynski tweeted: “Appreciate that @rihanna can decide “OK, it’s rap now” and then be like the best rapper alive.”

Another user begged her to record a “whole rap album” while @IGotTheSource tweeted: “Rihanna just dropped the hottest rap verse of 2017. And she not even a rapper.”

N.E.R.D – made up of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley – confirmed they were working on new music in 2015 but have been quiet ahead of its release.
