Star Wars: Episode IX writer Colin Trevorrow has “parted ways” with producers Lucasfilm, it has been announced.
The company said that the Jurassic World director would no longer be working on the sci-fi movie franchise’s upcoming instalment due to differing “visions”.
A statement shared on the official Star Wars website on Tuesday read: “Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX.

“Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ.
“We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”
The film, starring John Boyega, is due for release in 2019 and would have marked Trevorrow’s first foray into the world-famous movie series.
Earlier this year he told the Press Association that the late Star Wars veteran Carrie Fisher had also been lined up for a role and that he planned to “keep her soul alive” in the film.
He said: “She had a major role in the film and it’s something we had to deal with emotionally at first and now we’ve had to deal with it in very practical ways and in a form of storytelling we know is going to honour her and keep her soul alive but it is an unfortunate reality that we’re just going to have to handle.”
Trevorrow has been approached for comment.
