Here’s a look at the penultimate day of the 2017 General Election campaign.
Who’s had a good day?
Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour have managed to catch up with the Conservatives in a way that few expected at the start of the election.
Some projections, such as a Survation poll for Good Morning Britain, found that the country could be heading towards a hung parliament after the Conservative lead over Labour was slashed by 17 points to just one over the course of the last month.
The poll placed the Conservatives on 41.5% compared with Labour on 40.4% and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said “it makes me shudder to think that we could seriously be about to elect a Corbyn-led coalition” while campaigning in County Durham.
The Labour leader will also be hosting six simultaneous rallies via satellite at 7pm on Tuesday evening, in an effort to keep the momentum before the final 24 hours of campaigning get under way.
Who’s had a bad day?
Tim Farron’s Liberal Democrats haven’t gained ground in the way Labour have in the run-up to Thursday’s General Election.
While Labour have increased their projected share of the vote from 29% to 37% in the course of the last week, the Lib Dems have dropped 1% to just 8% overall.
Farron admitted on Monday that the outcome did not look good for those hoping to avoid a Conservative majority, and stated: “Whether one likes it or not, Theresa May is heading for a landslide on Thursday.
“I wish she wasn’t, but she called the election for that very purpose.”

A campaign video for East Yorkshire Conservative candidate Sir Greg Knight created a buzz on Tuesday, when observers noted the disjunction between Knight’s sombre address to camera versus the up-beat jingle that follows.
How do the polls look?
The gap between Labour and the Conservatives has narrowed in the last seven days, but stayed stagnant overnight at 37% and 44% respectively.
