Andrew Gwynne greeted supporters in Morley, near Leeds by telling them: “I’ve not come here to be Strictly Come Dancing, I’m here to be Strictly Come Campaigning with a great team of Labour activists.”Balls achieved TV and viral stardom when he appeared on the popular BBC dancing show, his hilarious routines unexpectedly turning into a meme on the triggering of Article 50.

Labour has yet to pick a candidate for the Morley & Outwood seat so it is not yet known whether Balls will return to try and take it back from Tory Andrea Jenkyns, who scraped a win back in 2015 with just 422 votes.
