THE 2016 CarSport Yearbook, the essential guide to Irish motorsport, has just gone on sale.

The annual review of the high points over the past 12 months takes a close look at the successful World Rally Championship season enjoyed by Tyrone rally driver Kris Meeke and his Kerry co-driver Paul Nagle.

They won the Argentina rally in their Citroen, making Meeke the first British driver to win in the WRC since his friend and mentor, the late Colin McRae, in 2002.

The CarSport Yearbook features an interview with Meeke as well as co-driver Ronan McNamee, who was the last Irishman to stand on the top step of the WRC podium when he partnered Pentti Airikkala to victory on the 1989 Lombard RAC Rally.

Also in the yearbook are Irish rally legend Cathal Curley's thoughts on the new Alfa Romeo 4C sports car, while all the international and national race and rally championships are all covered in depth.

Two of the fastest road cars launched last year, the Honda Civic Type R and the Audi R8 are also on test.

The 2016 CarSport Yearbook costs £4.95 and is available from newsagents and www.carsportmagazine.com
