Pumpkin seeds are higher in protein than other seeds, and a good source of the mineral phosphorus (for healthy cell membranes and bones) and omega-3 and omega-6 fats (for heart health).
These green seeds are also rich in zinc, choline and magnesium. Pumpkin seeds have been traditionally used in the treatment of prostate disorders and some modern research supports this (albeit using larger doses of more concentrated pumpkin seed oil).
They contain cucurbitacins, compounds thought to help prevent conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, which can encourage prostate enlargement.
