New Year healthy soups

MOST of us are guilty of overindulging during the Christmas hols which means, come January, we're ready for nothing more than healthy, wholesome meals that will help us beat the bloat and banish the pounds.

So it's always good to have a few detoxing recipes up your sleeve for the new year. This week I've chosen a couple of soup recipes that will both act as a quick and substantial winter warmer and help get you into shape for 2014.

Healthy doesn't have to mean boring - these tasty recipes are jam-packed with nutrients and vitamins, ideal for a new year pick-me-up.

Carrot, kale and orzo soup is one of my family's favourites - it's easy, full of flavour and has lots of the vitamins you'll need to help fight off nasty colds.

French onion soup is another wonderful winter warmer filled with dietary fibre and protein.
